my new mousey ::
drastic stuff happened at home yesterday. my bro declared that he wanted to stop studying and go and work. i told him straight in the face that's a foolish decision, given that he'll only have o levels to rely on. then gave him a really pessimistic outlook on the society and working world today. which is very true. every bit of it i'm seen in my short stint at work and interviews and papers. i hope the pool factor will not cause him to lose interest in his studies and he had since decided to change his course in school. mom said he's really into pool these days and he's 'gong tao-ed' about it. i quite agree. although i really don't wish to stifle his passion for it... he's good at it. but my family believes that he should at least get a foundational diploma to fall back on. i told him flatly that he should get a course he really has passion in it. hope things will go well for him.
same thing goes for my cousin too. yes, companies are looking for poly graduates now. but hey, in the long run, this is tried, tested and proven [for the longest time], uni graduates are going to earn more and live a better lifestyle. so please don't say that degrees don't matter. people don't pay a fortune to upgrade themselves and get retrenched. degrees don't matter ONLY if you have an entreprenuer mindset and are willing to fight tooth and nail to get into business AND not giving up to a salaried job. ELSE, you better get a degree.
by the way, i bought a new mouse. life is so much better.
