last day ::
muahahhaa, I was trying to be funny during work today.
It was raining and their was no customers in the shop. So I did a bit of miming and marching on the spot. Then the waitress and waitors at the restaurant next door was so amused by me that they did a little marching on the spot too! Haha, gotcha! I always believe in collective stupidity. heh.
Boy, ain't Im happy?! Its the last day! Though the mood was slightly sombre later on during lunch hour itself, cos the bartender came back from his friend's funeral. Felt quite sad for him. Hope he feels better.
Its quite shocking to hear of people our age dying you know. Cos we are supposed to be in the prime of our years.. enjoying life, filfuling obligations, being physically fit and stuff.
My childhood playmate died of food poisoning 1 or 2 years back. My mom's best friend's son. Someone who's like really young and promising with scores of girls going after him. But its like suddenly one day, after a BBQ and a night in the hospital, he's gone. My mom's best friend, aunty zhu was inconsolable. It affected me a bit. Who wouldn't especially that someone was someone you played hide and seek with, lend you his whole collections of bookworm books plus school textbooks the Wallie and Yakkie series, and teaches you the camera tricks to shoot a convincing slapping scene? If you are still here now, you would have been 23.
My primary school schoolmate died in a car crash, a few days away from announcement of O levels results. I still see his forlorn father sometimes. I feel and see his pain.
Ah well, the fragility of life. I wonder how will I feel when Im very old, when gatherings at funerals become more often than meeting friends to drink kopi in the morning.
Anyway, something on a lighter note.
Visited an art exhibition by my aunt's best friend. Her paintings were impressive. Particularly this piece which I like, its a vase of lilies with bold strokes of white, orange and green. Might sound like a strange combination, but the effect is good, the vase of lilies looked very striking. Then I'd visited a pottery classroom, seen how a kiln looks like. :) Its called a 'yao' in chinese, not oven, wo.. Got a spontaneous lesson on chinese culture and pottery. Interesting.
Am glad Im not a banana yet. Will try to maintain my level of chinese. Still need to help out in the next chinese digital competition man. Eeks. Had embarrassed myself in front of the secondary school kids with my poor show of chinese. :P
